1st Annual Scarecrows For Charity Contest

After a six-week close race, the winners of Cindy’s Scarecrows for Charity Contest were announced Saturday.

After rallying the community for some well deserved votes, Erie North Shore Major Atom Storm won first place for their storm themed scarecrow, winning their team $300. This generous team of boys plans to donate half their winnings to a charity of their choice.

Second place went to the South Essex Community Council, who won 200$.

In Cindy’s Facebook competition, the scarecrow that was the most “LIKE”able was made by the K.E.Y.S. Program, winning them $50.

The Scarecrows for Charity Contest gave Cindy’s the opportunity to allow groups and charities a chance to receive a cash prize and to raise awareness about their cause and why it needs community support. Entrants were provided with only a frame for their scarecrow and the great ideas and designs came directly from the groups.

         

It was a pleasure to host ten unique and interesting scarecrows, each heroically representing a great charity, group or cause. There was a heartwarming effort put into making these scarecrows and it was touching to know how important these causes are to the groups that participated. Thank  you to all who participated, rallied the community and to all who voted, we appreciate you!
